Hildegard Sings is an interactive story book about an adorable hippo whose ultimate dream is to become a famous opera star. Get to know Hildegard Rhineheffer and her journey to stardom by reading all the 28 fascinating pages of this iPad app. Here is our complete review:
An ideal bedtime story book for kids, this app has Read Myself and Read to Me options that allow parents to personally read to their kids or they could enjoy listening to the story together.
The tale of Hildegard Rhineheffer is wonderfully narrated. The story teller is definitely full of life. The music and sound effects add a great deal of excitement to each scene.
Turn the pages simply by pressing on the arrows at the bottom of the screen. You can’t flip the pages as you do on a normal book, though. But you can view all the pages through its navigation map. This app also lets you go back to where you left off.
Kids could also get involved on each page by tapping on some key objects pointed by a hippo’s hand. They could feed Hildegard with a variety of food, change her hats, throw tomatoes or flowers at her, pull the curtains up and do many other things. But make sure to tap on these objects after the narration is over as the sound effects might overlap the voice-over.
You and your kids could explore more things about Hildegard as this app comes with a number of fun extras. You can read the story’s epilogue, Hildegard’s famous roles, or play a matching game. Another extra feature, Opera Glossary, will be available soon.
Hildegard Sings is available on iTunes for an introductory price of $1.99.
