Penultimate is the next-generation note-taking application for the iPad. It simply gives you a whole new writing experience that is less complicated and highly productive. For first-time users, this provides a helpful tutorial. It is very easy to use and will guide you with all the features from the time you open this iPad app. Here is our complete review:

The user interface is extremely neat. You can choose from 3 different displays – a two notebook view, open notebook (where you can see the content), and front of the notebook view that provides you an editable title page. Wrist protection is also a great feature which keeps your wrist from accidentally scribbling something trivial on the writing pad. This mimics the way you truly write on paper and works great with a stylus pen as well.

The presentation of the application is flawless and well-organized. You can select from any of the notebooks you have created in the main screen. Pick a notebook design which is either graph, plain or lined. New designs such as music sheets, designer paper, games and a lot more are available in the “The Paper Shop” but it will cost you from $0.99 to $2.99.

Feeling a little bit OC? Write with colors to easily recognize the text. Forgot to write something? You can easily insert a new page within the notebook. You can even reorder the paging numbers or edit and delete them with ease. New to this application is the ability to annotate pictures, resize and move them to your liking.

If you’re using this application for your classes, then this is truly God-sent as you can also use this for quick notes, organizing ideas in meetings and a lot more. Share your notebooks (by page or whole notebook) via email or save specific pages to camera roll.

Penultimate is available on iTunes for $1.99.
